During the Emergency First Responder Instructor course, you will develop your skills as an Emergency Responder and focus on developing your teaching abilities to teach these skills to others. The Instructor course provides you with the additional training necessary to teach the Emergency First Responder Primary Care (CPR), Secondary (First Aid), Child Care, CPR and AED courses. (Many region-specific workplace courses require additional training.) Through independent study, classroom sessions, and a multimedia approach of hands-on teaching assignments, you learn to conduct Emergency First Responder courses.
The trainer course covers specific goals and performance requirements for the Primary Care, Secondary Care, Care for Children, and CPR and AED courses, how to structure learning, the requirements of performance-based education and your role as a trainer, and the learning environment. You also teach how to motivate students, assess student knowledge, present course content effectively, develop students' hands-on skills, and deliver an effective scenario-based learning experience. You will also receive information to assist you in marketing your EFR business.
Prerequisites:
To enter the Emergency First Responder Instructor course;
• you are 18 years old
• Have completed CPR and first aid training in the last 24 months
• or a medical professional such as a physician, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Registered Nurse.
